Our Inspiration

Founders Story

After a successful 14-year career in London and New York’s nightlife and hospitality industry, our Co-Founder & CEO, Oliver Evans, transitioned to Los Angeles for new opportunities. Starting out as a young nightclub promoter, he experienced the glamorous yet hollow life of luxury living at the age of 27. Despite realizing his dream, he grappled with the emptiness of materialism, recognizing its inability to provide genuine happiness.

His 30th birthday became a turning point, compelling him to leave nightlife behind. Joining the software startup Sevenrooms, while embarking on a path of self-discovery and personal growth to overcome depression and find a sense of purpose. This journey led him to explore enriching travel experiences, delve into introspection, and build meaningful relationships which completely changed his life trajectory.

One pivotal experience which ended up becoming the spark behind The KINN ignited when Oliver volunteered in Ukraine in April 2022. Amidst the devastation of a warzone, where he was shuttling vital humanitarian aid to the hardest-hit regions through a small NGO led by a friend, Oliver had a profound realization. Despite the prevailing darkness and destruction, people uniting for a great common goal could ignite a transformative flame with the potential to change the world.

After returning to the US, a profound sense of responsibility to contribute to something bigger came over him, and this sentiment is now woven into The KINN’s mission – a hub that ignites inspiration, collaboration, and action to empower both personal and societal transformation.

Theory U - Presencing Institute

The idea that progress is a real concept leading to an improvement of the world. Furthermore, the belief that the world can be made better by human effort.

This framework presents a transformative economic model that envisions a world where human prosperity is achieved within the ecological boundaries of the planet while ensuring social equity for all. This innovative approach redefines traditional economic goals, shifting the focus from relentless GDP growth to holistic well-being and sustainability.

Metamodernism

Metamodernism represents a cultural and philosophical shift that attempts to move beyond the skepticism and relativism of postmodernism. It embraces the idea of oscillation between opposing ideas and emotions, recognizing the complexity of contemporary existence. This movement seeks to reintroduce a sense of sincerity, meaning, and engagement into cultural, artistic, and societal discourse while acknowledging the ongoing challenges of a rapidly changing world.
